Missy Elliott is the first female rapper to be inducted into the American Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The recording of the 52-year-old US musician was celebrated on Friday in New York. In addition to Elliott, Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, George Michael, who died in 2016, Willie Nelson and the band Rage Against the Machine were inducted into the Music Stars Hall of Fame this year.

Elliott, dressed entirely in a gold sequined dress, performed at the gala itself and played her classic »Get your Freak On«, among other songs. The show, which lasted more than four hours, also featured Elton John and 20-year-old singer Olivia Rodrigo.

The Music Stars Hall of Fame is located in Cleveland, Ohio. Since 1986, more than 350 big names in the industry have been officially admitted. Rappers like Jay-Z and Eminem were already part of this special canon of superstars, unlike female artists from this field.
