Green-white joy when VSK took the step up to Allsvenskan

Highlights: Västerås SK beat Gais 2-1 to advance to Allsvenskan for the first time. After the game, the joy was palpable among the VSK supporters, both children and adults. Next season, top football will be played in Västerås again. After a 2-1 victory against Gais, the advancement to Allsvenskan was finally clear for Västerås SK. And the joy was great among the Västerås audience. "It means a lot, it's absolutely fantastic," said Vicki Skure Eriksson (C), chairman of the sports committee in Västerås, who was there to cheer on VSK.


After the first half, it looked like Gais would put a spanner in the works for VSK, as the Gothenburg team led 1-0.

But then Västerås' big scorer, Jabir Abdihakim Ali, stepped up. Early in the second half, he equalized the game and barely ten minutes later he gave Västerås the lead.

When the final whistle went, happy supporters rushed onto the pitch to celebrate with the players. After the game, the joy was palpable among the VSK supporters, both children and adults.

"It was a lot of fun! It feels like we're going to the Champions League even though it's only Allsvenskan, said young VSK supporter Sigvard Lo Källström after the game.
