According to the department, stray dogs attacked a seven-year-old schoolboy near a residential building in Uglegorsk. According to local residents, published by the media, a pack of large dogs lives in the area, but no action is taken. The victim was hospitalized with a bite wound to his leg.

"The head of the department instructed the head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Sakhalin Region Bazarov to initiate a criminal case on this fact and submit a report. The progress and results of the investigation have been put under control in the central office of the department," the statement adds.

Earlier, the Press Service and Information Department of the Administration of the Governor of the Astrakhan Region told RT that from April to September 2023, 5376 stray dogs were caught in the region.
