Highlights: Jewish cultural events in Sweden have been canceled after Hamas attack on Israel. The reason is increased vigilance and anxiety among the Jewish minority and fear of attacks. Author Johanna Schreiber, who has written children's books about Jewish culture, has chosen not to cancel. "My job is to spread knowledge about the Jewish culture in Sweden. Then I can't walk around and be afraid to do my job," says Schreiber. The threat against us has increased," says Aron Verständig, chairman of the Central Council of Jews.

After Hamas's attack on Israel last week, several Jewish cultural events have been canceled around Sweden. The reason is increased vigilance and anxiety among the Jewish minority and fear of attacks. "The threat against us has increased and it is clear that there are people here in Sweden who do not wish us well," says Aron Verständig, chairman of the Central Council of Jews.

These include cancelled author talks, music concerts and dance performances. Any with a Jewish theme or Jewish participants. Kulturnyheter has been in contact with authors whose events have been cancelled, but who do not want to be in front of the camera for fear of threats and violence.

One cultural worker who has chosen not to cancel is Johanna Schreiber, who has written children's books about Jewish culture.

"My job is to spread knowledge about the Jewish culture in Sweden. Then I can't walk around and be afraid to do my job," says Johanna Schreiber.

Hear her elaborate on her reasoning in the clip above.
