The boxer and fighter Xavi Moya has died this Saturday in Barcelona at the age of 55 after suffering a motorcycle accident. He was known mainly for his role as a boxer, since he won the Spanish middleweight championship in the mid-90s, as well as being an amateur of Catalonia, IBF Intercontinental champion and TWBA World Champion.

But not only did he practice boxing, a sport in which he would debut in 1992 with a fight in Barcelona against José Manuel Varela, whom he won by KO, he was also a lover of contact sports. He was proclaimed European and World Champion of kung fu in 1990 and 1991 and was nine times world champion and seven times European champion in professional full-contact, as well as kick-boxing.

He is one of the few boxers in history to hold World Champion titles in three different sports disciplines.

Moya started in contact sports at age 16 when he suffered a robbery in the street, at the end of school, as he explained on several occasions.

He retired in 2008 to devote himself to training and mentoring new boxers in the gym in Barcelona that he managed. His passion for the sport and his way of fighting, with very forceful blows thanks to his exceptional physical form that he still kept, made him become a reference for new generations of fighters.
