World champion on Saturday, Grand Prix victory on Sunday: Max Verstappen enjoyed a well-rounded weekend at the Losail International Circuit. Lewis Hamilton flew out in the first corner, Carlos Sainz couldn't even start.

World champion Max Verstappen has won the Qatar Grand Prix at the Losail International Circuit. Behind him, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris finished second and third.

For former champion Lewis Hamilton, the race ended early: the Mercedes driver collided with his teammate George Russell in the first corner. At first, he blamed him for his retirement, later he took responsibility for the crash in an interview.

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz was unable to take part in the race at short notice. As his racing team announced less than an hour before the start, problems had arisen with the fuel system, which prevented the Spaniard from starting. The 29-year-old would normally have started the Grand Prix from twelfth position.
