The third round of the "Championship Match," one of the eight major shogi titles, was held in Nagoya City, where challenger Sota Fujii (1) defeated Takuya Nagase (3) for his second victory and became the first player in history to monopolize the eight major titles.
The third round of the best-of-five championship match was held at a hotel in Nagoya on the 3th, and began with challenger Fujii Shichikaku ahead of the first stage.
In the match, Nagase, who was behind him, attacked first and attacked deep into Fujii's seven crowns, giving him an advantage.
However, when Fujii Nanakaku seized the clue to the counterattack in between attacks, the tide was quickly reversed, and just after 27:8 p.m., Nagase threw with 81 moves.
With this, Fujii, who won his second title in the fifth round of the "Championship Match", came one win away from winning the title of the only "Title" that he did not hold, and became the first player in history to monopolize the eight major titles.
On the other hand, the defeated Nagase Championship was undefeatable as they sought to win their fifth consecutive title and the permanent title "Honorary Title".
The fourth round of the "Game of the Throne" will be held in Kyoto on the 2th of next month.
Comments from both players
After the match, Fujii Nanakaku said, "We were able to win the match, but we were pushed from the beginning and it was a very difficult shogi match, so we will try to improve our performance in the fourth round."
He also commented on the fact that he was one win away from becoming the first player in history to win the Eight Crowns, saying, "I hope I can focus on that point without thinking about it."
On the other hand, the defeated Nagase said, "I don't think we responded well, so we will continue to do our best."
