A special exhibition introducing original drawings by manga artist Mineo Maya, known for works such as "Shode Saitama", which became a hot topic for self-deprecating stories in Saitama Prefecture, is being held in Saitama City.

The exhibition held at Saitama Municipal Manga Kaikan in Kita-ku, Saitama City, was planned to mark the 50th anniversary of his debut as a manga artist by Mineo Maya, known for gag manga such as "Patalilo!" and "Shode Saitama," and features about 100 original drawings and related materials.

In the "Shode Saitama" corner, which became a hot topic for its self-deprecating story in Saitama Prefecture and was also made into a movie, the original book published in monochrome is introduced in vivid color original pictures.

In addition, original drawings of characters from the representative work "Patalilo!" are also on display.

Since roses are often depicted in the background of Maya's works, the venue was surrounded by the scent of roses, and visitors enjoyed Maya's world view.

A woman in her 60s from Saitama City, who visited with her husband, said, "I learned about Maya-san from 'Shode Saitama,' and it's interesting because it's hard to see the original paintings."

Rumiko Ishida, curator of Saitama City Manga Kaikan, said, "Maya-san is loved by the people of Saitama, and I don't think there are many hand-drawn original drawings that are so beautiful, so I would like you to see them."

This temporary exhibition is open until November 11th.
