Highlights: The European Union can no longer rely on the U.S. for its energy supplies. The European Union must find a solution to the crisis in Ukraine. The EU must also find a way to end the conflict in the Ukraine, which has claimed the lives of more than 100,000 people since the start of the war in Ukraine in March 2014. The conflict in Ukraine is the worst since the Second World War, which claimed more than 3.5 million lives. The death toll from the conflict has risen to more than 1,000,000.

Dutch human rights activist, founder of the human rights organization The Hague Peace Projects, Jacob de Jonge, expressed confidence that Europe does not seek a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict because of its serious dependence on the United States.

De Jonge said this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

As the interlocutor of the agency noted, European countries need to end the conflict in Ukraine, since Europe has already paid a high price for this conflict.

He stressed that if Europe had real sovereignty, it would choose a peaceful resolution of the conflict under any circumstances.

"But the situation has shown how dependent we are on the United States, how our security depends on the United States, as a result of which our political decisions have ceased to be independent," de Jonge said.

The European Union can no longer independently choose its foreign policy, he concluded.

Earlier, the head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, said that the European policy of diversification ended in failure, Europe is dependent on American energy resources.
