A joint exercise between the four Quad countries, including the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, began in Australia, and escort ships from each country entered Sydney's port.

This drill, called "Malabar," has been conducted for about 30 years, and the Maritime Self-Defense Force has been participating in it since 2007.

This training was held in Australia for the first time, and on the 11th, seven escort ships from four countries, including the Maritime Self-Defense Force escort ship "Shiranui", and missile destroyers from four countries entered the naval base in Sydney.

The four countries, Japan and the United States, Australia and India, are deepening cooperation in areas such as security under the framework of the "Quad," bearing in mind China's increasing maritime presence in the Indo-Pacific region.

At a press conference ahead of the drill on Wednesday, Royal Australian Navy Commander Christopher Smith expressed his expectations for the exercise, saying, "This training strengthens our relationship as a regional partner to maintain stability, prosperity and resilience in our region."

The training will be held for 4 to 7 days, and in addition to confirming the procedures for joint operations, there will also be exchanges between the members.
