Pamfilova allowed the postponement of elections in new regions due to security threats

The head of the CEC of Russia, Ella Pamfilova, admitted that elections in new regions could be postponed due to security threats, but now this is not necessary.


"We still have the right and opportunity, if in a particular area of a new subject of Russia, of these four, the situation can deteriorate sharply and we will understand that there is a threat to the security of voters, we have the right to postpone the elections there," TASS quoted her as saying.

According to Pamfilova, the CEC can use this right until the last moment. She added that so far "everything is going fine."

Earlier, Pamfilova reported that the nomination of candidates for the elections will begin in the new regions from July 24.

She also stated that in the event of unforeseen circumstances, elections in certain areas of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions could be postponed.
