Russian Deputy Defense Minister Fomin met with the CSTO Secretary General in Moscow

Highlights: Russian Deputy Defense Minister met with Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Issues of improving the regulatory framework of a regional international organization were touched upon. Russian Foreign Minister said that the CSTO should not be considered as an opposing bloc to the Russian-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) The meeting took place at the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow. The CSTO is expected to discuss the deployment of an observation mission on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The meeting was attended by the heads of the Russian, Ukrainian and Georgian armies.

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin met in Moscow with Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov.


As part of the discussion, issues of improving the regulatory framework of a regional international organization were touched upon.

"During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on topical issues of military cooperation, improving the regulatory framework within the organization," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Earlier, the director of the first department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Mikael Agasandyan, said that the CSTO is ready to return to discussing the deployment of an observation mission on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Also, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Collective Security Treaty Organization should not be considered as an opposing bloc.
