Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos has signed with PSG on loan until the end of next season with an option to buy, the capital club announced Monday in a statement.

Ramos (22), who played at Benfica Lisbon, his training club, becomes the 8th summer recruit of Paris after defenders Milan Skriniar and Lucas Hernandez, midfielders Manuel Ugarte and Cher Ndour, strikers Marco Asensio and Lee Kang-in and goalkeeper Arnau Tenas.

Great hope of Portuguese football, the center forward (7 caps, 4 goals) had shone during the last World Cup in 2022, distinguished by a hat-trick in the 8th final against Switzerland (6-1) where he was preferred to the superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting eleven. It was his first start for the national team.

He was already on the shelves of PSG last season before achieving the best year of his career with 27 goals and 12 assists with Benfica, in all competitions, and a Portuguese league title.

"I played for Paris Saint-Germain for five years. I scored 109 goals. Now it's up to you to write the history of Paris Saint-Germain. Welcome to our club, "had said to welcome him, earlier in the evening, his compatriot and former player of PSG Pedro Pauleta, in a video broadcast on the social networks of the Parisian club shortly before the officialization of his arrival.

With the arrival of Ramos, PSG gets their hands on the N.9 so sought after the failure of the Harry Kane file, very close to committing with Bayern Munich. This transfer was once again facilitated by the proximity between PSG's "football advisor", Luis Campos, and the player's representative, Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes, who has placed many of his foals in Paris over the past year thanks to his links with his compatriot.
