Union makes exception for indie films during strike

Film and television sets in Hollywood have been put on pause as both screenwriters and actors go on strike. But now the union SAG-AFTRA has allowed an exemption for independent productions that are not affiliated with the employers' Alliance of motion picture and television producers, Deadline reports.


Under the new exemption, screenwriters and actors can continue to work on free productions as long as they agree to retroactively adopt the contract terms that the union is trying to push through with the strike.
