Chainsaw man sentenced to 2.5 years in prison

The chainsaw was convicted of aggravated unlawful threats and aggravated threats against a public servant and sentenced to imprisonment for two years and six months.


The man, who is in his 35s, was charged with aggravated unlawful threats and aggravated threats against a public servant after trying to enter his neighbor in eastern Blekinge armed with an axe and chainsaw over the Easter weekend.

Just as the man was about to attack, the police arrived, who shot the man in the right leg, as he remained standing with the chainsaw running despite the police asking him to release it.

The man was convicted of four counts of aggravated threats against a public official, one count of unlawful threats.

The man has said during the trial that he never intended to harm the police officers.

The convicted person must also pay SEK 60,000 in damages to the neighbor for violation and pain and suffering, and SEK 20,000 each to the police officers at the crime scene for violation.
