Highlights: Ukrainian forces cannot advance on the southern and northern flanks of Artyomovsk, including in the area of Kleshcheevka. Since July 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have attacked the positions of the Russian Armed Forces several dozen times. The height difference reaches 50-70 m, which is of key importance for attacks, especially with the involvement of equipment. The military chronicle explained why the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot advance on the southern and northern flanks of Artyomovsk, including in the area of Kleshcheevka. Since July 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have attacked the positions of the Russian Armed Forces in the area several dozen times.

"As of the evening of July 5, all attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Kleshcheevka have been repulsed, Ukrainian troops have not succeeded in occupying the dominant heights west of this settlement," the report said.

The main problem of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the southern flank is the offensive vector, since the village of Kleshcheevka is located in a lowland, but surrounded by hills.

"The height difference reaches 50-70 m, which is of key importance for attacks, especially with the involvement of equipment. In this area, Ukrainian mechanized and infantry formations are forced to move from the bottom up, which complicates the task for the assault at times: even numerical superiority does not help to achieve results quickly, "the analysis says.

It is noted that the fighting in a few days led to the depletion of Ukrainian reserves, so the command of the Ukrainian army began to send units into battle, staffed by untrained fighters mobilized from several weeks to three months ago.

The analysis also says that the level of losses in individual Ukrainian units, primarily in assault brigades, after several days of assaults is approaching 70%.

"Because of this, a significant part of the formations may soon be withdrawn for replenishment and restoration of combat capability, after which there may be a relative lull on the flanks," the Military Chronicle concluded.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense reported that Russian troops hit three concentrations of manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian army in the Artyomovsk region in the DPR.
