Serious accident at Magdeburg's main train station: As the Federal Police reported on Monday, a man is said to have sat on the edge of the platform on Saturday and let his legs dangle into the track. An employee of Deutsche Bahn then asked him to move away from the track.

However, the 42-year-old then jumped into the track bed. When a train approached, he climbed back onto the platform. When the train arrived, the man then kicked one of the cars and lost his balance. He fell, therefore, between the platform and the train and was dragged several meters.

No danger to life

Bystanders had brought the man to safety. The 42-year-old was therefore responsive and was seriously injured in a hospital. There is no danger to life.

According to police, the man can be seen "staggering" on the recordings of the surveillance cameras. Whether he was actually drunk has not yet been conclusively clarified, said a spokeswoman on request. According to the Federal Police, the train traffic was interrupted for three quarters of an hour. The investigation is ongoing.
