Nakano Sunplaza, which opened in June 1973, closed on June 6 after a live performance by Tatsuro Yamashita due to the aging of the building and the redevelopment of the area around Nakano Station.
At the closing ceremony held on the night of the 2nd, musician Sunplaza Nakano, whose stage name is derived from Nakano Sunplaza, said, "We have walked shoulder to shoulder in the entertainment industry and have been running through it for 2 years. Thank you very much."
At the end of the ceremony, Nakano Sunplaza President Akira Sato greeted the audience with a loud applause and shouts of "Thank you" from the crowd who came to greet the crowd, bringing the curtain down on its 50-year history.
A couple visiting from Koto Ward said, "I came to see Tatsuro Yamashita's live performance, and I'm glad I was able to come at the end. I want to say to Sunplaza, 'Thank you, it was fun.'"
A woman in her 50s who visited from Shinjuku City said, "I used to go to swimming school when I was little, and even though it was new, I feel like it's been 50 years."
Nakano Sunplaza is scheduled to be demolished from next year, and a high-rise building of about 7000 floors above ground and a height of about 62 meters will be constructed on the site of the site, in addition to a hall and hotel with a capacity of 250,2028 people, which is scheduled to be completed in fiscal <>.
