Accommodation about gunfire in Motala – Sofie: "I woke up with sharp bangs"

Highlights: Residents in the Ekön district in Motala, Sweden, say the area has become messier lately. "There's a lot of fighting and other things around here," says a man who has just picked up his grandson from a preschool. Some also say they are not surprised that there has been a shooting. "It's happening everywhere," says one man who lives in the area for a long time. "I don't know what's going to happen next," says another man, who has lived there for years.
During the night of Tuesday, the police were alerted to the Ekön district in Motala. Several people had heard loud bangs. At the scene, the police were able to establish that a shooting had taken place. One of those who woke up to the sounds is Sofie Pettersson.
SVT Nyheter Öst talks to several residents in the area on Tuesday. Many do not want to be interviewed, but they say that it has become messier in the area lately.
Feeling scared
"There's a lot of fighting and other things around here," says a man we meet on the street who has just picked up his grandson from a preschool, which is right next to the apartment buildings that have been shot at. He says he feels scared.
Some also say they are not surprised that there has been a shooting.
Flourishing drugs
"It's happening everywhere," says a young guy passing the police cordons.
Another person who has lived in the area for a long time says that there are a lot of drugs.
