The authorities of Burkina Faso denounced a military treaty with France due to the lack of success in the fight against terrorism, said the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the transitional period of the African state, Ousmane Buguma.

He recalled that the purpose of the military agreement with Paris was to support the army of Burkina Faso in the fight against terrorism.

"The government decided to terminate it, because the result did not meet expectations, as terrorism continued to spread in our country," RIA Novosti quoted Buguma as saying.

The politician noted that the French military is almost completely withdrawn from the territory of the state.

On January 22, the government of Burkina Faso denounced the agreement on the presence of the French Armed Forces.

In January, AFP, citing the French Foreign Ministry, reported that France had received a demand to withdraw troops from Burkina Faso.

At the same time, French leader Emmanuel Macron said that France's new strategy in Africa does not imply the withdrawal of troops.
