Former US President Barack Obama won an Emmy -
the most important television award in the US
- for his narration of the Netflix documentary series "
Our Great National Parks,
" according to the American Television Academy.
The award ceremony will take place on 13 September.
Only one other president had previously received an Emmy:
Dwight D. Eisenhower, in 1956
, but in his case it was an honorary award.
In addition to Obama, former NBA star Kareem
Abdul-Jabbar
(for "Black patriots: heroes of the Civil war"), Academy Award-winning actress Lupita
Nyong'o
