USA Drought uncovers the body of an alleged mafia victim and a weapon in a Las Vegas lake
They are
German ships sunk during World War II
.
That it is possible to see them is a consequence of the drought, the water level has dropped enough in the
Danube river
for them to be exposed.
In total there are more than
20 ships
located in the section that crosses the east of Serbia, most of them are loaded with tons of
ammunition and explosives
.
The phenomenon poses a
threat to maritime transport in the area
, to which almost half of its navigable section has already had to be reduced.
In March, the Serbian government launched a tender for the salvage of the
ships
and their removal of ammunition and explosives.
An operation whose cost is around 29 million euros.
