Oita Prefecture announced on the 20th that it was newly confirmed that eight people, including Oita City and Beppu City, were infected with the new coronavirus.
This brings the total number of confirmed infections in Oita Prefecture to 574.
The prefecture also revealed that a man in his 70s who had been admitted to a hospital in the prefecture died after being infected with the new coronavirus.
The number of people who died after being confirmed to be infected in the prefecture is five.
