May 8 at 22:43 (May 9 at 00:43 Moscow time) 1945 on the outskirts of Berlin Karlshorst an act was signed on the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany. German troops began to lay down their arms en masse and surrender. May 9 at 02:10 Sovinformburo reported this event to citizens of the Soviet Union.
