Child of Evolution: 45 years ago, the skeleton of Australopithecus Lucy was found in Ethiopia

On November 24, 1974, one of the most significant discoveries in the history of paleoanthropology was made. Members of the Franco-American expedition working in Ethiopia discovered part of the skeleton of a primate from the hominid family, which was later classified as Afar Australopithecus. He is considered one of the probable ancestors of the genus Homo. Since the remains belonged to females, and the Beatles song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was played on the tape recorder during a find in the scientists' camp, the find was given the unofficial name of Lucy (scientific name AL 288–1). This discovery has significantly expanded the world view of evolution.
