First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy, Igor Anansky, commented on RT to the statement by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin that Russia would try to organize a “gas war” after the expiration of the agreement on gas transit through Ukraine.

“It seems to me that he wants to wishful thinking. I do not understand the expression "new gas war", we did not have the old one either. I remember that Ukraine illegally stole gas from the pipeline, and the fact that Russia did not supply gas and arranged a “war” did not happen. This is initially a provocative speech, ”said the deputy.

According to Anansky, Ukraine is “trying to put political pressure on Russia in the framework of a future treaty.”

“Russia has made a market offer to Ukraine on gas transit, but Ukraine refuses and is trying to translate it into a political plane. Although Russia has long stated that we are ready to cooperate without political populism, ”he concluded.

Earlier, Klimkin announced Russia's plans to organize a "gas war."
