The communication service of the Department for External Church Relations (DECR) of the Moscow Patriarchate noted an increase in the number of seizures of churches of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) by supporters of a new church structure, the CCA.

"There are all new messages about the actions of the radicals and representatives of local authorities, which are aimed at illegally transferring the parishes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the jurisdiction of the schismatic association that received" autocephaly "from Constantinople," the report says.

So, in the DECR, as an example, they cited cases of the seizure of temples or acts of vandalism against them that happened in recent days, in particular, in Zhytomyr and Sumy regions, in Volyn, in Lviv.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law on changing the jurisdiction of religious communities, which could deprive the UOC of its churches.

Later, the Ukrainian leader, Petro Poroshenko, said that the adopted law on religious communities would help avoid bloodshed during the transition of parishes to a new church structure - PCU.
