Saudi Attorney General announces first hearing of Khashoggi case

The Saudi Attorney General has announced the first hearing of the trial of the accused in the case of the killing of opposition journalist Jamal Khashoggi in his consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday. According to a statement issued by the Attorney General,


Saudi Arabia's Attorney General Gamal Khashoggi was assassinated at a consulate in Istanbul on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the Attorney General, quoted by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the session included 11 defendants, in the presence of their lawyers. He added that the Public Prosecutor's Office demanded the imposition of the legal sanction against them, including five "demanded to kill them for involvement in the murder."
He pointed out that after hearing the lawsuit, they all asked for a copy of the list of the lawsuit and the charge to answer what was stated therein. He pointed out that the Public Prosecution is conducting investigations with a number of defendants.

The statement reiterated that more memos had been sent to the Turkish Public Prosecutor's Office for any evidence or evidence concerning the case, but no reply had been received to date.
