Kaiserslautern (dpa / lrs) - Should 1. FC Kaiserslautern relegate to the regional league, the stadium lease for the Fritz-Walter-Stadion should fall from the current 625,000 euros to 400,000 euros.

According to a report in the daily newspaper “Rheinpfalz” (Friday), the club applied for this amount to the municipal stadium company.

Three game days before the end of the season, FCK is only one point ahead of the first relegation place in the 3rd soccer league.

With an average of more than 18,000 spectators in the regional league, an additional 100,000 euros should flow.

The city of Kaiserslautern confirmed this at the request of the newspaper.

In the case of relegation, the application for a rent reduction is to be discussed in the city council on June 7th.

It is still unclear what the application includes in terms of maintenance and repair costs for the expensive World Cup arena.

These also amount to several hundred thousand euros.

As the "Rheinpfalz" reports further, the FCK offers the city additional rooms in the stadium for marketing in the event of relegation.

In addition, the four-time German master would reduce the size of the office.

Offices could then be relocated to the club's own youth training center.
