In March 2022, he was paroled after serving two-thirds of his sentence and found a job at a law firm in
Vitoria
, where he met his current partner,
Ainhoa Armentia
.
After this relationship came to light, Urdangarin separated from
Cristina de Borbón
in January 2022 after almost 25 years of marriage and last January they announced their divorce.
At 56 years old, the former Duke of Palma lives in Vitoria with Armentia in an apartment near that of his mother, Claire Libaert.
The ruling in the Nóos case acquitted Infanta Cristina, although she was ordered to pay 136,950 euros as civil liability for profit.
Once the sentence has been completed, Urdangarin will maintain his criminal record until five years have passed if he does not offend again.
